Perry junior outfielder/pitcher Janier Puente was recently chosen for the First Team of the Iowa Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A Central District squad at a utility spot.

Puente was 41-of-89 at the plate this season, an average of .461. He boasted a slugging percentage of .865 and an on base percentage of .520.

Of his 41 hits, 11 were doubles, two were triples and seven were home runs, all team-highs. He was the only Bluejay to smack a home run this season, and his 38 RBIs were more than twice the total of the next player on the team. Puente scored 23 runs during the season.

Perry finished 11-20 overall and 5-9 in Raccoon River Conference play. They were eliminated after a 6-3 loss to host DC-G in the first round of the playoffs.
