The Perry Lions Club is collecting used eyeglasses through December in the club’s annual drive.

If you have glasses that you no longer use, please donate them to the Perry Lions Club in donation boxes located at Hy-Vee, Fareway, Medicap Pharmacy, Hotel Pattee and Eye Care Associates.

The collection boxes will remain in the stores until Christmas. The glasses may be donated with or without a case. So far, 87 pairs of glasses and one hearing aid have been donated.

“Your donation to the Lions Club project will be greatly appreciated by many people who will be able to see better because of your generosity,” said Lion Dave Summerson as he checked the donation box at the Hotel Pattee this week.

The Perry Lions Club has been active in November. Along with partnering with Eye Care Associates in providing financial assistance to a person who needed new eyeglasses, the club joined with the Perry Optimist Club on Veterans Day in raising flags in the Flags over Perry program, now in its seventh year.

The Perry Lions Club also made a cash donation to the Perry Toys for Tots project in November. It is estimated some 300 children in Perry will get gifts this Christmas through the Toys for Tots program.
