The Perry Lions Club held their annual Christmas celebration at the Hotel Pattee Monday evening.
The hotel served a delicious meal. The main entrees were chicken breast and pork tenderloin medallions, with salad, green beans, mashed potatoes and Christmas-tree-shaped dinner rolls. The dessert was a choice of peppermint cheese cake or gingerbread cheese cake.
During the meal, the members of the club were entertained by Christmas music played on the hotel’s piano by the brother and sister team of Olivia and Isaiah Christensen.
Roger Niemeyer, president of the Perry Lions Club, served as the moderator of a Christmas trivia game. A variety of nice prizes were given for correct answers to the questions.
The table decorations, made by Margaret Harden, were given away for door prizes.
Lions Clubs are focused on helping people with vision problems, but they also assist people in need around the world. The Lions Clubs International Foundation has donated funds for COVID-19 relief to many countries and has helped refugees suffering due to the war in Ukraine. Locally, Lions Club International Foundation awarded $10,000 dollars in grants to last spring’s tornado victims in Winterset and Norwalk.
