The weekly meeting of the Perry Lions Club welcomed Mark Powell of Dallas Center, who reported on the proposed Dallas County Law Enforcement Center bond referendum on May 2. He handed out material that explained the need for the project and had a floor plan of the building.

Powell said the LEC election was a non-partisan issue. He said it is needed by the county, and in the long term it would save Dallas County money. Powell fielded questions and ended his program by encouraging everyone to vote in favor of the bond issue.

Some of the Lions met before the meeting for the annual “walk the ditch” along Iowa Highway 141 from the Dawson corner to F Avenue. The litter removal took a little more than one hour, and about 1,000 pounds of litter was removed.

Ditch-cleaning Lions included Allen Becker, Jim McCaulley, Lou Hoger, John Andorf, Harley McGuire Rich Saemisch, Gary Becker, Ray Harden and Bob Roeder.
