Perry Lions Club members Ray Harden, left, and Rich Jones received Silver Membership Advancement Awards at this week's meeting.

Recruiting new members is one of the biggest challenges faced by civic and fraternal organizations in Perry. The Perry Lions Club rewards members who bring in new members, and this year two Perry Lions  for signing up two new members this year.

Ray Harden, a charter member of the Perry Lions when the club was formed in 1972, received the Lions Club Silver Membership Advancement Key Award at Monday’s meeting.
He dropped out of the club for a period but rejoined in 2006.

Harden is a past president of the Perry Lions Club and is currently the club’s secretary. In 2012 he received the Lions Club Melvin Jones Fellow Award.

Richard Jones, the second Silver Membership Advancement Key Award winner, joined the Perry Lions Club in May 1980 and has been a member for 35 years. He has served as the club’s president and vice president and has been active in many Lions Club projects.

Jones received both the Silver Membership Advancement Award for signing up two new members this year and the Gold Membership Advancement Award for recruiting new members over the years in his long service to the Lions.
