Perry man allegedly assaults wife, step-daughter

Ruben Emiliano Chavez, 45, of Perry was arrested Wednesday on charges of two counts of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

A Perry man was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly striking his wife and step-daughter in their Perry home.

Ruben Chavez Emiliano, 45, of 2108 Third St., Perry, was charged with two counts of first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 2100 block of Third Street, where an officer of the Perry Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The victim told the officers that Chavez Emiliano allegedly “struck her in the back of the head,” according to court records.

Two witness at the residence made statements, confirming that Chavez Emiliano allegedly struck the victim “as well as his step-daughter,” according to court records.

The officer observed “scratches on the right side of the victim’s neck” and “noticeable scratches/abrasions to the right arm of” the step-daughter, according to court records.

Chavez Emiliano is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 12 in Dallas County District Court.

Chavez Emiliano was convicted of assault in 2018 in Dallas County District Court.
