A Perry man faces an assault charge in connection with a February incident in which he was caught on video allegedly punching a woman.
Christopher William West, 36, of 2902 Iowa St., Perry, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.
According to court records, the alleged assault took place about 10 p.m. Feb. 23 in the 1700 block of Warford Street in Perry.
The victim claimed West “struck her with a closed fist,” and video evidence “showed what appeared to be” West “striking the victim.”
Dallas County Magistrate Donna Mae Schauer issued an arrest warrant March 10, and West was served with the warrant March 26 by officers of the Perry Police Department.
West is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $300 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a retrial conference April 27 in Dallas County District Court.
West was convicted of assault in 2002 and again in 2015 in Polk County District Court.
