A Perry man was arrested Monday after allegedly sexually molesting an 11-year-old.
Aaveyohn Akeem Travis, 22, of 2506 Perry Park Ave., Perry, was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, lascivious acts with a child and drug distribution violation.
The incident began about 2:15 p.m. Monday, when officers of the Perry Police Department received a report from a juvenile witness who was “receiving Snapchats from” the 11-year-old female victim, who said “that she was being touched by” Travis, according to court records.
The officers made contact with the victim, who told the officers “that she was touched
inappropriately by” Travis, according to court records.
The victim told the officers that Travis allegedly “offered her a vape pen, also referred to as a dab pen,” according to court records.
The officers made contact with Travis, who allegedly admitted to the officers “that he ‘touched her,’ but denied that it was inappropriate,” according to court records.
The officers asked Travis whether “he knew the age of” the victim, and Travis told the officers that the victim “told him she was 18,” according to court records.
Travis is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 11 in Dallas County District Court.
