Perry man arrested on charges of sexual abuse from 2011

A Perry man was arrested Tuesday on a Boone County warrant for allegedly sexually molesting a child in Madrid between 2011 and 2014.

Trever Joe Howland, 32, of 1301 W. Eighth St., Perry, was charged with five counts of second-degree sexual abuse.

According to court records, the victim was under the age of 12 at the time of the alleged crimes, and Howland allegedly “removed her clothing and touched her on her bare genitals and breast area with his hands for sexual gratification.”

The incidents occurred between Jan. 1, 2011, and Nov. 30, 2014, in the 500 block of Milwaukee Street in Madrid, according to court records.

A warrant for Howland’s arrest was ordered March 29 in Boone County District Court and served March 30. Howland is held in the Boone County Jail on a $125,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 12 in Boone County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
