A Perry man faces multiple charges after leading Boone County law enforcement on a 20-mile high-speed chase early Saturday in southwestern Boone County.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s office, Grabiel Garcia, 36, of Perry, was arrested by Boone County Deputy Sheriffs near Luther early Saturday morning after he was stopped about 1:30 a.m. Saturday for a traffic violation south of Ogden on U.S. Highway 169.

Garcia then fled the scene of the stop at high speed in a 2004 Dodge Interpid. He was pursued by the deputy sheriff at speeds exceeding 100 mph on County Road E57, the sheriff’s office said.

The Iowa State Patrol assisted in the pursuit.

Garcia’s vehicle was finally stopped near Luther, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Garcia was charged with second-offence OWI, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, eluding and a number of traffic violations.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Garcia is being held at the Boone County Jail on $7,500 bond.
