Victor Hugo Diaz, 21, of Perry was arrested Thursday on nine counts of first-offense purchase/possess depiction of a minor in a sex act.

A Perry man was arrested Thursday on a Dallas County warrant in connection with incidents in 2020 and 2021 in which he allegedly emailed child pornography.

Victor Hugo Diaz, 21, of 1214 30th St., Perry, was charged with nine counts of first-offense purchase/possess depiction of a minor in a sex act.

According to court records, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received a report on June 5, 2020, “that a user was uploading and sending files depicting child pornography” from Diaz’s 30th Street residence in Perry.

A second, similar report to the NCMEC was made Oct. 16, 2021.

A search warrant was obtained and executed by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on April 28, 2022, and Diaz’s “phone was seized from his person” and subjected to a “forensic examination,” which disclosed “additional files of child pornography,” according to court records.

A warrant for Diaz’s arrest was ordered March 9, 2023, in Dallas County District Court and served March 21 by the DCI.

Diaz is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 3 in Dallas County District Court.
