Perry junior Cole Snyder controls his opponent en route to a win earlier this season. Snyder was one of only two Bluejays to win both of his matches Thursday.

Visiting Van Meter/Earlham and Bondurant-Farrar each claimed wins over Perry in a wrestling triangular Thursday, with VM/E defeating B-F in the other dual.

Perry opened against VM/E and was handed a 54-11 setback, with B-F topping Perry, 43-26, in the final of three matches. The event began with VM/E besting B-F, 39-27.

Kaleb Olejniczak recorded a pin and a major decision to improve to 24-0 overall. The wins leave the 138-pound senior standout at 157-19 for his career, one win shy of equaling two-time state champion Kane Seeley (158-18) for second place on Perry’s all-time victory list. Zach Thompson (174-30) holds the career standard.

Cole Snyder had two wins for Perry at 182 pounds. He scored a 15-0 technical fall against VM/E before winning by fall against B-F.

Jacob Nelson (132 pounds) and Bryan Funez (145) each scored one win by decision, with Justin Stammer (152) posting a major decision while Luke Holtorf (285) received a forfeit.

Perry was unable to record any other victories and left the 126, 195 and 220 weight classes open against both opponents.

The Bluejays return to action Saturday when they compete in the Ames Invitational.
