The Perry volleyball team has earned an IGHSAU Distinguished Academic Achievement Award for excellence in the classroom by having team members in grades 10-12 post a combined grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
In addition, Jayette senior netters Mariah Duffy, Victoria Hegstrom, Taylor Lathrum and Ellie Nielsen, along with juniors Grace Marburger and Adrian Thompson and sophomore Sid Vancil each earned All-Raccoon River Conference All-Academic status for having an individual GPA of 3.25 or higher.
On-court prowess was not overlooked, either, as Nielsen was named to the All-RRC First Team while Vancil was named to the Honorable Mention list.
Nielsen finished with 56 kills, 46 digs and 23 assists while serving 65-of-72 (.903) with seven aces while making three blocks in 25 RRC sets this season. Vancil had 130 assists, 26 digs, a pair of kills and six aces on 75-of-80 (.938) serving in 26 sets in RRC play.
Perry was 12-23 overall and 0-7 in conference play this year.
