The Perry Optimist Club joined the community-wide efforts this week to help local families suffering hardship as a result of the novel coronavirus global pandemic.
Zack Cregeen, president of the Perry Optimists, said the club’s membership voted at its April meeting to provide three $100 gift cards from Perry grocery stores to three local families in need.
“As Optimists,” Cregeen said, “we pledge ourselves ‘to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.’ We want to inspire hope during this challenging time.”
Cregeen said the families were chosen in consultation with the counseling staff of the Perry Community School District.
