The Perry Police Department hosted a merit badge workshop for Scouts BSA Troop 116 on Friday and Saturday, with Sgt. Matt Aswegan, an Eagle Scout and committee member of the troop, planning and leading the event.

Over the course of the two days, the Scouts learned basic crime prevention measures, what to do if they are a witness or a victim of a crime, the dangers of drugs and alcohol, how to take fingerprints and lift latent fingerprints from a surface.

The course concluded in Adel with a tour of the county courthouse and county jail led by the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.

All of the Scouts who attended earned their Crime Prevention and Fingerprinting merit badges.
