The Perry Police Department’s newest member, Officer Caleb Wallace, chalked up his first saved life this weekend when he successfully used CPR on a Perry resident.
Details of the incident have not been released by the department, and medical emergencies are protected by confidentiality laws, but Wallace was presumably on a tandem patrol with Officer Laura Deaton when the emergency incident occurred.
A quick response by Norma Penado and Crystal Garrido in the dispatch office of the Perry Police Department brought a similarly quick response from Deaton and Wallace, who arrived on the scene, and the rookie put his life-saving training to work.
Wallace began his three months of field training with the Perry Police Department Aug. 21. The Boone native graduated from the 16-week training program at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy Aug. 18.
