A man was Tasered by officers of the Perry Police Department late Sunday night near the corner of Eighth and Pattee streets in Perry.

The circumstances of the incident and the events leading to the man’s Tasering are unknown at this hour.

“You’ll have to talk to the chief about that in the morning,” said a spokesperson for the Perry Police Department when asked for information.

A Taser is a non-lethal electroshock weapon used by law enforcement officers and others. It delivers an electrical shock of .02 to .04 amps. Someone struck by a Taser experiences strong involuntary muscle contractions that typically result in the person’s collapse.
