Perry picks up win at own tourney

Perry defeated Saydel, 2-0, to highlight their three matches at a shortened Jayette Tournament Thursday.

Perry (3-20) knocked off Saydel (2-19), 25-20 and 25-18, for a victory. DC-G (11-3) topped Perry, 25-10 and 25-14, with Roland-Story (19-5) besting Perry, 25-22 and 25-21. DC-G was 3-0 overall Thursday, R-S 2-1, and Saydel 0-3.

Kacy Nevitt led Perry with 15 combined kills, with Jasmine Shriver adding 12 kills. Lanie Fish had three kills, Quinn Whiton, Jayna Kenney and Ashley Cerna two kills apiece, with Taylor Atwell and Peyton Tunink adding one kill each. Kenney distributed 18 assists and Whiton 12, with Atwell adding five assists and Nevitt and Shriver one each.

Shriver came away with 26 digs to pace Perry, with 19 digs from Cerna and 16 from both Kenney and Whiton aiding the defense. Nevitt finished with eight digs and Tunink with six while Atwell tallied five digs and Addison Huntington and Callie Steva three each.

Nevitt had four blocks at the net, with Shriver turning away two attacks. Fish had 1-1/2 blocks, with Kenney, Cerna and Tunink also having blocks.

The hosts finished a combined 82-of-101 serving, recording 11 total aces along the way.

Nevitt had seven aces on 17-of-20 serving and Atwell two aces on 17-of-17 serving. Steva was 3-5-2, Shriver and Kenney were both 15-of-15, Tunink 7-of-7, and Huntington 4-of-6.

Perry returns to action Saturday when they participate in the Indianola Tourney.
