The Perry Piecemakers Quilt Guild recently took on the task of creating, designing and making a quilt for the Woodworking Room in the Hotel Pattee, with about a dozen quilters gathering weekly at the hotel for quilting sessions.

They presented their colorful handmade creations — a queen-size quilt, throw quilt and three throw pillows — to grateful hotel officials Wednesday afternoon in a brief ceremony.

Among the quilters who participated in creating the Woodworking Room quilt were Wanda Brooks, Diane Caufield, Shirley Ehlers, Kathy Fox, Barb Hansen, Diane Harland, Lois Hoger, Cindy Jafvert, Pat Mundy, Sharon Riley, Karen Tayler, Joann Warnock and Nikki Whitney.

“We wish to thank specifically Diane Caufield who organized the workdays and did the quilting,” said a Perry Piecemakers spokesperson. “Her contribution is greatly appreciated.”

Most of the quilting fabric was purchased locally at Ben’s Five and Dime in Perry.

The spokesperson said the Perry Piecemakers will be making another quilt for a designated hotel room beginning in a few weeks.
