The Perry Fine Arts Series will celebrate the Fourth of July with a performance by the Grand Ave Ruckus Wednesday, July 4 at 2 pm at the First United Methodist Church at 1100 Third St. in Perry.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]
The concert will be followed by a homemade ice cream social.

Grand Ave Ruckus is the Midwest’s newest brass band, and they’re here to bring the boogie from the bayou here to the Heartland. Taking inspiration from New Orleans’ best brass bands to the Jackson 5, Grand Ave Ruckus is a bombastic get-down-and–dance funk-filled show, featuring local Des Moines musicians. Grand Ave Ruckus covers your favorite tunes with a powerful, horn-driven performance. Screaming trumpets, wailing saxophones, and a big bottom end five Grand Ave Ruckus their one-of-a-kind sound. Grand Ave Ruckus is always a party, and it’s definitely one you won’t want to miss.
The Band includes band manager Brad Sparks on trombone, Ben McCartney on trumpet, Nick Gardner on saxophones, Hans Decker on lead trumpet, Ryan McNulty on trumpet, Ben Poppen on snare drum and percussion, Christian Hayden on bass drum, Dan Purscell on trombone and Josh Waymire on sousaphone.
Sparks is currently the band director at the Perry Community Schools.
Perry Fine Arts concerts are free and open to the public. Donations are accepted. The church is handicapped accessible and air conditioned.
