Perry fell to host Ogden Friday in their second outing of the football season.

GRINNELL, Iowa — The Perry girls basketball team saw their first, if non-record, action of the season Monday when they faced East Marshall in a jamboree.

The matchup was the middle of three contests and marked the first time under whistles with former Jayette standout Claire Marburger serving as head coach for Perry.

The Mustangs prevailed, 31-18, with Marburger saying the outing had served its purpose.

“We played better offensively than I expected,” the coach said. “I saw a lot of good things and many things we can work on.”

Lydia Olejniczak had seven points for Perry, with Kathryn West and Callie Steva each scoring four points. Litzy Romero added a basket and Maci Tunink a free throw.

The Jayette season begins Friday with a visit to Des Moines Hoover. Perry will then host Fort Dodge St. Edmond Tuesday before traveling to Boone Nov. 30 and South Hamilton Dec. 3.
