April 10, 2017

  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and expressed “concern for a female who was slumped over the steering wheel” of a vehicle. He said “he knocked in the window, but the female did not move or respond.” An officer responded, and the Dallas County EMS was paged. The officer found the woman was sleeping. The woman “said she didn’t hear anyone knocking on the window.” The Dallas County EMS was cancelled.
  • Richard Allen Keller of 626 Second St. in Perry was issued a citation for first-offense open burning.
  • A caller said “someone broke the screen to the window and stole a couple of items.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said three days ago he “observed a man unloading a kayak from his vehicle at Beaver Creek on Iowa Highway 141 east of U.S. Highway 169.” The man “said the vehicle is still parked at that location,” and he “was concerned the person may have had a boating accident.” An officer responded and notified the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.
  • A caller said she “loaned a vehicle to” someone ” on Friday,” and the borrower “still hasn;t returned the vehicle.” The caller “wanted to know what she could do.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she was just choked and hit.” Officers responded. The caller said “her stepmother was hitting the dog, and ” the caller “tried to stop it, “and her stepmother then threw her up against the wall by her neck.” The caller’s parents said “the dog nipped at their 2-year-old, and they spanked the dog.” The parents said the caller “freaked out and tried to come at” them, and they “tried restraining” the caller. The officers investigated and found the caller’s “marks were consistent with being restrained and not abused.”

April 11, 2017

  • A 17-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller said “he can smell marijuana smoke throughout his whole building.” Officers responded and “did detect faint marijuana odor,” but the were “unable to determine the source.”
  • A 16-year-old female from Perry was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A 17-year-old female from Perry was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
