March 30, 2018

  • An officer of the Perry Police Department taught a class at DMACC.
  • A caller said “there is a rooster sitting on her front porch,” and she “isn’t sure what to do.” An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said “there is a guy who he sees smoking meth in the parking lot.” An officer responded but did not find the suspicious person.
  • A caller said he is an executor of an estate, and “he came to check on it, and the door is open.” The caller asked whether an officer could respond and “come in with him.” An officer responded.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department taught a DARE class at St. Patrick School.
  • A caller said “that she went inside” a store “and when she came out, her keys were gone.” The caller said “she believes someone from inside the store took her keys.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large and “chasing children getting off the school bus.” An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller said his bicycle was stolen. An officer responded. The caller called again and said he recovered his bicycle.
  • A caller said “the shed at the old high school ball diamonds was broken into sometime since last night.” The caller said “the pitching machine was gone.” An officer responded and determined “the pitching machine was in another shed,” and “nothing else was missing or displaced.”
  • A caller said his son “has been in a physical dispute, but he didn’t want to report it. He came home bleeding,” and “the windshield of their vehicle was broken.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said she lost a money order. The caller called again and said she found the money order.
  • A caller said he “found a weed eater” with “no one around.” An officer responded and took possession of the item, which was “logged into property as found.”
  • A caller said she found a wallet. An officer responded and took possession of the item, which was “logged into evidence.”
  • A caller said his dog was lost. Another caller reported a dog running at large and fitting the description of the lost dog. With Perry Police Department assistance, the “dog was returned to its owner.”
  • A caller said “his wife called him and said that there is someone ringing the doorbell at the house. They are not expecting anyone and would like an officer to respond.” Officers responded but did not find anyone in the area.

March 31, 2018

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded.
  • Officers of the Perry Police Department performed a funeral escort.
  • A caller said he was “walking his dog” when another dog walker “approached” and began “asking his dog’s age.” The caller said “there was a confrontation” because the other dog walker “claims” the caller’s “dog has bitten his in the past.” An officer responded and “both were advised the keep the dogs and leashes and to leave each other alone.”
  • A caller reported a scam phone call. An officer was advised.
  • A caller said “he loaned a trailer” to someone who “did not return the trailer and won’t return” the caller’s calls. An officer responded.
  • A caller reporter a man “walking around the parking lot” and “yelling, ‘Help!'” Officers responded and determined the yelling man was an Alzheimer’s sufferer who “got confused while waiting for his wife who was in” the store. The wife was located.
  • An officer with the Fort Dodge Police Department requested an officer of the Perry Police Department attempt to make contact with someone. An officer responded and determined the party sought was “evicted two months ago.” The Fort Dodge Police Department was informed.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “he and his family were evicted from their apartment and have been staying with a friend.” The man “said the friend kicked them out,” and the man “wanted to know if the police department could assist them with lodging for the night.” An officer responded and “spoke” with the man “about his options.”
  • A caller said her son “is intoxicated and being very belligerent.” Officers responded.
  • A “caller said her daughter has a problem then hung up.” The caller called again, and “this time she said her daughter called her stupid.” An officer responded and advised each of the parties “to take a break from the other.”
  • A caller “said sometime today someone cut the locks off his” rented storage unit. An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a debit card he said he found. An officer responded and made contact with the owner of the item, who retrieved it from the police department.
  • A caller said someone was “kicking the door, trying to get in” and then “left running toward the bike trail.” The caller said the kicker “is intoxicated.” An officer responded and made contact with the kicker, who said “he had been living at the house with his father,” and “they got into an argument and he left.”
  • A caller said “he was assaulted by his roommate’s girlfriend.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “her husband is being destructive.” The caller said “they got into an argument,” and “he broke the TV” and was “intoxicated.” Officers responded and made contact with the husband, who “agreed to stay somewhere else for the night.”

April 1, 2018

  • Alexander Lopez-Aristondo, 2801 First Ave., #40, was issued a citation for first-offense violation of loudness ordinance.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department performed a voluntary search and found a person in possession of “black powder, bullet package, bicycle parts and a hand spray pump.”
  • A caller said “someone broke into his house last night” and “stole a handful of change and also a handgun.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone attempted to use his debit card information to make a purchase at Walmart.” The caller “said the card was declined.” The caller said “he has cancelled the card.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her 14-year-old daughter “is refusing to get in the car and is being combative.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a strong odor of marijuana coming from” a neighboring apartment. An officer responded.
  • A caller “said she was assaulted by her boyfriend.” An officer responded.
  • Nathaniel Lee Rose, 23, 8008 S. 46th St., Omaha, Neb., was arrested on a Council Bluffs Police Department warrant on a charge of assault.

April 2, 2018

  • A caller asked “for an officer to go by his residence to see if anyone was outside of his door.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her dog was lost. While speaking, the caller said her dog was found.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “her vehicle was struck while parked at the U.S. Post Office.” An officer responded, “looked at the vehicle and did not see any damage.”
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department taught at DARE class at the Perry Elementary School.
  • A caller said “someone ran into the building.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “he observed someone riding a four-wheeler into town.” An officer responded and found the vehicle “parked” and “with no one around it.”
  • A caller said “everyday after school, a little girl comes to his residence wanting a ride home.” The caller asked that an officer “talk to the family about who is supposed to pick up the child after school.” An officer responded and made contact with the child’s “older brother,” and he said “he would pick up his sister from now on.”
  • A caller said “the bike he reported stolen was laying in a yard.” An officer responded, determined the bicycle belonged to the caller and “transported the bike to the owner’s residence. Paperwork was completed.”
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department gave the Boy Scouts a tour of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “she was attempting to sell a fireplace on Craigslist for $400.” The woman said someone “from Hawaii agreed to purchase the item” and sent a check “in the amount of $1,600.” The woman said “she took the check to the bank and learned it wasn’t any good,” and “the person is now sending her harassing text messages.” An officer responded and “advised her to block the number and not respond as this is a scam.”

April 3, 2018

  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department attempted to stop someone on a bicycle, but the person “rode through a yard when he saw the patrol car” and eluded the officer “when he yelled for the subject to stop.” Officers “searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.”
  • A wireless 911 caller said his wife “sent him a message telling him he needed to come home.” An officer responded to the residence and made contact with the wife, who said “she didn’t want to speak with him and shut the door.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
