August 12, 2017

  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and reported credit card fraud. An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but was unable to catch the dog.
  • A caller said he saw someone riding his stolen bicycle. Officers responded, took possession of the bicycle, verified its identity and returned it to its owner.
  • A caller reported “four kids outside behind her residence in the alley were grabbing chunks of cement and chucking it.” An officer responded, “located the kids and made them clean up the concrete.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a billfold he said he found. An officer responded and “logged the items into evidence.” A caller later called to inquire about a lost billfold that matched the description.
  • Peter Colon of 2021 Fourth St., Perry, was issued a citation for third-offense dog at large.
  • Malvia Yeager at 1720 Iowa St., Perry, was issued a citation for first-offense barking dog.
  • A caller said someone “attempted to purchase a soda with a fake $50 bill.” When the caller said the bill was fake, “the male grabbed the bill and left the store.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a group of four young boys playing in the street” that “looks like they are attempting to set the grass on fire.” The caller then said “the kids had left,” and it “looks like his grass is burned.” An officer responded but did not find the boys.
  • Gary Lee Bundy Jr., 43, 102 W. Second St., Rippey, was arrested on two counts of driving under suspension.
  • Steven Samuel Paul Schleicher, 32, 1621 E. 12th St., #2, Des Moines, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
  • A caller reported “receiving complaints from customers of a strong odor of marijuana coming from the third floor.” Officers responded but could not isolate the source of the odor.
  • A caller reported “kids being loud outside.” An officer responded and found no kids and all quiet.

August 13, 2017

  • The Dallas County EMS was paged for “a prisoner having rectal pain.”
  • Pablo Espinoza, 19, 2902 Iowa St., #28, Perry, was arrested on charges of first-offense underage possession of alcohol, driving without a license and driving without insurance.
  • A caller said someone “dumped two bottles of Dawn dish soap in their swimming pool.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a 2-year-old child was lost. “While talking on the phone,” the caller said the child was found.
  • A caller said “last night his sister” was ‘assaulted by her boyfriend” while “at a residence in Yale.” The caller was transferred to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office.
  • A caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police department would confirm the welfare of her sister, who “missed a visit with her daughter today.” An officer responded and made contact with the missing sister. “She was fine” and “said she would call her sister.”
  • A caller said the “keys are missing to a pickup truck and dump truck.” The caller “said he believes someone was messing around in the area.” An officer responded.
  • Dray Rivera, 27, 502 W. Harrison St., Jefferson, was arrested on a Perry warrant on a charge of fifth-degree theft-shoplifting.
  • A caller said “she resides with her ex,” and “he just locked her out of the residence.” Officers responded and found the male half “didn’t want” the female half “there anymore and so he was kicking her out.” Officers explained to the male half that “she lives at the residence too, and he cannot simply evict her without proper notice.” The officers provided Crisis Intervention cards to both parties, and “all of them went back into the residence.”
  • A caller said a cat was running at large. An officer responded and “transported the kitten to the pound.” Animal control was notified.
  • A caller said “she can hear people screaming.” Officers responded and learned someone was “told that he needed to go in his room because his grandmother wanted to watch the news, which in turn upset him.” The upset party “was calm when officers arrived, and the situation had cooled down.”
  • A caller said “he just located his mother in the bathtub, and she was unresponsive.” Officers responded, and the Dallas County EMS was paged.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
