Perry Police Report Aug. 15

August 14, 2017

  • A caller said he “went to the door” of his child’s daycare facility and when the child “saw her father,” she “ran to him, and he picked her up and left.” It was determined “there is no custody order set between” the parents, so “all okay at this point.”
  • A caller said her granddaughter “just came to her residence” after fleeing the scene of an argument between her parents in which one of the parties “had been throwing things.” Officers responded and provided one of the parties “information on Crisis Intervention, eviction orders and advised to speak to an attorney about child custody.”
  • Four wireless 911 calls were received from one source. The “call hit the tower at Eighth and Warford,” and an officer patrolled the area but did not find “any problems.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said “that while at the hospital he noticed his 7-year-old’s iPad missing.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he “found a purse lying in the road.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “requested to talk to an officer regarding suspicious phone calls he’s been receiving.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “she met someone on” a dating website” who “said he lived overseas” and “talked her into giving him money” in the amount of about $4,000. The woman “said the person wrote her a check for $5,750,” and “so far the check is good.” An officer responded and started an investigation.
  • A caller said “he was assaulted by a man who left the scene riding a blue bike.” Officers responded and determined the incident was a “verbal dispute only in checkout line.”
  • A caller said “he’s having trouble with kids throwing rocks and bricks in his yard.” An officer responded and made contact with “a handful of kids.” The officer admonished the children and directed them to clean up the mess.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said his bicycle was stolen. An officer responded.
  • A hangup 911 was received. An officer of the Perry Police Department patrolled the area and made contact with a woman who said “her ex” was “knocking on the door” earlier. The woman said the ex “was an unwanted guest, but he is the father of her son.” The officer then made contact with the ex, who was “advised to stay away from the residence as he is not wanted there right now.”
  • A caller said “his step-dad just attempted to break into their residence.” Officers responded and issued a no-trespass order to the step-father, who was “strongly advised the he would automatically be arrested is another call was received that he was there.”
  • A caller said she “thinks the person in the apartment below her is smoking marijuana.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “an abandoned bike in his yard.” An officer responded, and the bike was “taken to the bike shed.”
  • Matthew Dean Bryan, 32, 2602 Hiawatha St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse assault.

August 15, 2017

  • Two callers reported “an injured opossum in the middle of the road.” Officers responded and transported the animal to the wastewater treatment plant for disposal.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
