August 2, 2018

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. The caller called again and said “he figured out who the dog belongs to and will be taking it to them.”
  • A caller said he daughter “used to work” at a local long-term care facility. The caller said her daughter “gave her two-week notice via text then wrote it up two days later. She had been scheduled on a day she was not able to work because she needs to move. She told her boss this, and she was told that her not showing up for work means she would lose her 30 hours of vacation.” The caller said she “wants to know if this is legal.” An officer responded and “advised her to speak with” the employer “to see what their policies are as well as possibly speak to an attorney.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a cell phone he said he found. A dispatcher responded and made contact with the owner of the phone, who later “came in to pick up the phone.”
  • A caller said “she found her bike, which was reported stolen last year, in someone’s yard.” The caller said “she’s with it now.” An officer responded and determined the serial number on the bike “did not match the serial number for the stolen bike.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded, and the “dog was returned to its owner.”
  • A caller reported nuisance burning. An officer responded and “located the burning pile” but found “no one around it or in the” residence nearby.
  • A caller said “her wallet was stolen while she was at work.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “her boyfriend is threatening to kick her out again, and she just wants to know her options.” An officer responded, and “she was advised of the process of eviction.”
  • A 911 caller said “she was currently at the Dallas County Hospital emergency room, and she was going into labor and needed an ambulance and was being held against her will.” The Dallas County Hospital was called, and an emergency room nurse said the 911 caller “was fine, and they thought she was calling her mother.” The emergency room nurse “called back requesting an officer to help with” the 911 caller “because she will probably resist to get a shot.” Officers responded and “stood by while the nurse administered the shot without incident.” A caller from the Dallas County Hospital later called 911 and said “that they are requesting an officer due to a patient being violent.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “one of the neighbors goes around speeding and driving around on a minibike.” Officers responded and found a minibike paked in a yard along with several people, who “were advised what would happen if they got caught riding it on the street.”
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital “requested officers due to a patient being violent.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said a man “got way too close to them when they were out by the Caboose Park.” An officer responded but did not find the man.
  • A caller said “her dog was hit by a dark-colored” vehicle. The caller said she “had to take her dog to the vet.” An officer responded and said “she would have to go after the subject civilly.”
  • A caller said “his mom was outside in front of their residence” and “walking their dog when someone had a flashlight that was behind her.” The caller said “she turned around to see who it was, and they turned it off.” An officer responded but did not find a person with a flashlight.

August 3, 2018

  • The Dallas County Sheriff’s office dispatcher “requested backup for their deputy at the Dallas County Hospital” because someone “woke up and was demanding to go home” and “also needs to be medicated, and the staff will need assistance with that.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said two dogs were running at large. An officer responded, made contact with the owner of the dogs and “spoke with her about the city ordinance about having dogs running at large. At the time, the dogs were contained in the residence.”
  • A caller said “about five weeks ago he was driving southbound on County Road P58,” and “another vehicle was driving northbound. The vehicles made contact, breaking each other’s side mirrors off.” The caller said “he exchanged insurance information, but the other driver has not turned it in to insurance.” The caller said his vehicle sustained $1,200 in damage. The call was transferred to the Dallas County Sheiff’s office.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said her 16-year-old daughter was missing, and the woman said she “believes she is with her boyfriend.” An officer responded, “located the juvenile” and transported her to the police department, where she was later released.
  • A caller with the city of Perry said “he is cutting” a “lawn for compliance” and “requested an officer stand by in case of any problems.” An officer responded and stood by while the caller “finished mowing.”
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital “requested an officer respond as soon as possible to the emergency room” because “a female has struck a nurse.” The caller said a “deputy is en route but is a little ways out.” Officers “responded until the deputy arrived.”
  • A caller from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office “called and requested the fire department respond” to where a “semi hauling hogs broke down” The caller said the driver of the semi “needs them to respond and hose the pigs before they get dehydrated and die.” The Perry Volunteer Fire Department was notified and responded. An officer of the Perry Police Department also “responded to assist with traffic” one hour later “while they transferred the pigs to the new semi.”
  • A caller requested to speak with an officer “about what to do in regards to” someone’s “property still being at his house. He wants her to pick it up. It has been there since February.” An officer responded and “advised him to contact his attorney.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with “a kitten that she found in her property.” The woman said “she tried to feed it but doesn’t know what to do with it.” An officer responded and made contact with a local animal lover, “who was able to take the cat.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. “to report identity theft.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “that due to the yard sales, there have been many cars driving the wrong way on Warford Street.” An officer responded and “located one vehicle driving the wrong way,” and the driver was “given a warning.”
  • A man and his assistant entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. in order “to report a female” caretaker who “forged some checks.” An officer responded and started an investigation.
  • A caller said “someone got into his garage and took his chain saw.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said she was concerned about someone she believes “could be drinking and driving.” The caller said “he can get really suicidal if this is the case.” The caller said “he talked to his cousin and was saying suicidal comments to his cousin.” Officers were advised. Officers with another agency later located the man and determined he “was not suicidal and was doing fine.”
  • A caller said “his cell phone and wallet were taken from his locker while he was showering.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “reported an accident on U.S. Interstate 80 between Earlham and De Soto.” The caller was transferred to the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.
  • A caller “requested an officer due to a woman leaving suspicious rags.” An officer responded and determined a “rag was used to clean up spilled nail polish. Everything was fine.”
  • A caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department would stand by “while she removed her plates” from “a car she had sold.” An officer responded and stood by.
  • A caller said “she saw three girls sitting on a couch” and “smoking what seemed like marijuana.” An officer responded and made contact with females, who “denied smoking marijuana,” and the officer found “no evidence of marijuana being smoked recently.”

August 4, 2018

  • Officers of the Perry Police Department “conducted a bar check” at a local tavern.
  • A caller said her dog was lost.
  • A 17-year-old male was issued a citation for violation of instruction permit and issued a warning for first-offense curfew violation.
  • A caller reported “smoke coming out of the attic” of a house. Officers responded, and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • A caller from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office requested an officer of the Perry Police Department “to try and locate a female juvenile” listed as a missing person out of Story County. An officer responded, located the child and transported her to the Dallas County Hospital.
  • A caller reported “vandalism” to a property. The caller said “there is a broken window, and another one was damaged as well.” An officer responded and learned “there is a dispute over who owns the property.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller said she was concerned about “her friend” and “her dad having issues with her and wanting” the friend “to come back home.” An officer responded.
  • Jonathan Arturo Gonzalez, 25, 2013 Third St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a dog he caught running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller reported “a bunch of kids fighting and yelling.” Officers responded, “made contact with approximately 10 to 12 juveniles” and determined “they were just out playing and practicing their relays since they just ran at the Drake Relays today.”

August 5, 2018

  • Josias Otoniel Gomes-Mauricio, 19, 1816 Fourth St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of first-offense OWI.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
