December 8, 2017

  • A caller said “she will be bringing her son in who was reported as a runaway.” The caller afterward entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with her son. Officers responded.
  • A caller said his dog was lost.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said her brother “appears to be suicidal.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said he “received a phone call from someone who identified himself as” a sergeant with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office. The caller said the sergeant told the caller he “was being fined for failure to appear on jury duty” and to “withdraw $500 to take care of the fine.” The caller said he then called the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, which “confirmed the story was false.” The caller said he “just wanted out department aware of the incident.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a “male wearing a Hawkeye cap had been in the business causing problems.” Officers responded.
  • A caller from the Waukee Police Department said a vehicle registered to an owner in Perry “was involved in a road rage incident in their city.” An officer responded but “never saw the vehicle.”
  • A caller said “the person who lives above her has a small child that is running around being loud.” An officer responded and made contact with the person who lives above and “requested that she keeps it down.”

December 9, 2017

  • A caller requested a welfare check on someone with whom “she has been trying to make contact for a few months now.” An officer responded but did not find the person. The caller was notified.
  • Officer of the Perry Police Department conducted a funeral escort.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department “stood by while a gift was delivered.”
  • A caller “reported a sick opossum on the road.” An officer responded and “transported the opossum to the river.”
  • A caller requested a welfare check on someone who was “acting strange.” The person reportedly acting strange “called the police department and advised she is okay” and has “no thoughts of harming herself.” An officer responded.
  • A 14-year-old female from Perry was arrested on charges of public intoxication and three counts of assault on a police officer.

December 10, 2017

  • A caller said a “truck hauling a horse trailer struck his vehicle and continued.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “he had parked a car he just purchased” and “wondered if we had it towed.” The caller was advised “to call the tow companies around here” and if they do not have the vehicle, to “report it as stolen.”
  • A caller said “someone was raking their yard and burning leaves.” An officer responded but was “not able to find anyone burning leaves.”
  • A caller said his dog was lost. The caller called again and said his dog was found.
  • A caller said “she was applying lice medication to her hair, and some of it got into her eyes.” The caller “requested an ambulance for herself.” Dallas County EMS was paged and then disregarded.

December 11, 2017

  • A caller said she saw a “male peeping through the windows of the dementia unit.” Officers responded but did not find the peeping male.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
