December 12, 2017

  • A caller said a 24-year-old female “just got assaulted” by someone “who came in the apartment with a baseball bat and beat her.” Officers responded.
  • A caller asked “to speak with an officer about making arrangements to get property.” The caller said “she was having issues about being able to get the property.” Officers “responded and stood by.”
  • A caller said “a child was left alone in a car seat.” An officer responded and “saw a female with a boy that had gotten into a vehicle and driven off. Everything else around was” okay.
  • A caller said “her resident” was “slapped by his wife across the face.” An officer responded and the Iowa Department of Human Services was notified.
  • A caller from the Greene County Sheriff’s office said information was received about a juvenile who “wanted to commit suicide.” An officer responded and determined the juvenile did not live in Perry. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said his 19-year-old son was missing. An officer responded, and the missing person was located by the Des Moines Police Department.
  • A caller from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office said someone “was just served with papers regarding custody and was not happy. The deputy assumed she was going to” a residence in order “to try to take the child and is not allowed.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported a barking dog. An officer responded and found “all quiet.”

December 13, 2017

  • A caller asked “to speak with an officer about her rights of allowing her landlord to fumigate her apartment.” The caller said “her son has breathing problems and doesn;t feel it is safe for them to go into her apartment.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported two dogs that “are allowed to go to his yard to do their business.” The caller said he “would like this to stop.” The caller said “other neighbors are frustrated with the dogs going in their yards, too.” Officers responded and made contact with the owner of the dogs, who “said he might have to take the dogs out with a leash.”
  • A caller said she “located a child that appears to be lost.” An officer responded and returned the child to the babysitter.
  • Darian Bighead, 18, 2205 North St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A caller said someone “yelled at her daughter” in a local retail store. An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said his cat was missing.

December 14, 2017

  • Olegario Sauceda, 48, 2901 Evelyn St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault simple.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
