December 15, 2017

  • A caller said “there was a physical altercation at the high school.” The Perry Police Department School Resource Officer responded.
  • A caller requested “a welfare check on his oldest son.” The caller said “he just received a call from the school” and learned his son was absent. An officer responded and made contact with the son, who said he was “not feeling well,” and “that is why he did not go to school.”
  • A caller from the Polk County Sheriff’s office said “a dog bit a paramedic.” The caller was “not concerned with the treatment of the dog only if the dog is still alive since it was supposed to be in quarantine.” An officer responded and found the dog “alive in the van.” The Polk County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A citation was issued to Miranda Alderete of 1817 Evelyn St. for first-offense dog at large.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A 17-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A 17-year-old female from Perry was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A caller said a dog was barking. An officer responded but did not find the barking dog.

December 16, 2017

  • Benjamin Andrew Heintzleman, 43, 812 Fourth St., Perry, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Amanda Jean Christians, 25, 913 Willis Ave., #207, Perry, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • A caller reported “a disturbance going on in one of the rooms.” An officer responded and made contact with two people, who said “that they were arguing over money and that they had overspent on Christmas.” The officer determined the two people were “under the influence of alcohol.” The two people said “the alcohol is more than likely a factor in their behavior,” and “both advised they will go into their hotel room and sleep it off and not cause any other problems.”
  • A caller said a dog was barking. An officer responded but did not find the barking dog.
  • A caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department would respond to her residence “in regards to a man who keeps coming and claiming her dog bit his dog.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a woman “came out and started yelling at him and kicked his dog for no reason.” An officer responded.
  • Brian Robert Templeman, 38, 1617 1/2 Willis Ave., Perry, was arrested on Dallas County warrants for failure to appear on an original charge of third-offense possession of marijuana and failure to appear on an original charge of assault on a peace officer.
  • Ivan Equardo Rivas-Leanos, 23, was arrested by the Woodward Police Department on charges of second-offense possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a Polk County arrest warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-offense possession of a controlled substance.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department was “flagged down” by someone who said “his house was broken into.” The officer responded.
  • Jill Onnen of 523 Clearview Dr., #10, Perry, was issued a citation for first-offense loud music.

December 17, 2017

  • Richard Allen Keller, 36, 507 Lucinda St., Perry, was arrested on charges of third-offense possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • A caller reported “an older male on a scooter going east on the westbound lane of the travel portion.” An officer responded, made contact with the scooter operator and “advised him of a safer route.”
  • Ramon Torres-Cubillo of 1712 First Ave. in Perry was issued a citation for first-offense open burning.
  • A caller said “someone just came to her residence attempting to sell cookbooks for the Church of God.” An officer responded but did not find the solicitor.
  • A caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department would “talk to her ex-boyfriend” and “advise him to stop calling her.” An officer responded, made contact with the ex-boyfriend and “advised him not to have any contact with” the caller.
  • Roscoe Ludwig Anderson, 55, 803 Third St., #3, Perry, was arrested on a charge of third-offense public intoxication.

December 18, 2017

  • Shelley Carmack, 50, 710 18th St., #6, Perry, was issued a citation for no Iowa driver’s license, operation of an unregistered vehicle and no proof of insurance.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
