February 17, 2017

  • A wireless 911 caller said “he must have been laying on the phone and somehow dialed it but didn’t mean to.” An officer responded and “verified everything was okay.”
  • A caller said “two small children about 3 years old” were “playing soccer” on ground “next to the highway.” The caller said she was “concerned for their safety” and was “going to stay in the area and watch them until an officer arrives.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said someone “threatened to damage her property.” The caller said “they have recently broken up,” and she “wants him to move out.” The caller said the person “threatened to slash tires.” An officer responded and made contact with the person, who said “he will be moving out.”
  • A caller said “he saw someone dump a large black garbage bag in front of his residence on the yard.” An officer responded and alerted the Perry Public Works Department.
  • A caller said “that two boys approximately 18 years old on skate boards were harassing him as he walked by Pattee Park.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “a little kid hit a girl.” The caller said the girl “went to go tell the parent, and the parent came outside and was cursing at them.” An officer responded and determined that a misunderstanding occurred, and “both parents and children were advised, and all parties agreed all was okay.”
  • A caller said “she was being abused by her daughter and needed help.” Officers responded and learned the daughter “was upset because her mother took speakers from her.” In the dispute a “physical altercation occurred.” The officers “assisted” everyone “in calming down.”
  • A caller said “they have a Porta-Potty on their lawn,” and the caller “just witnessed an unauthorized person use it.” An officer responded, made contact with the unauthorized Porta-Potty user and “advised him not to be on other people’s property and to use the bathroom at a gas station next time.”

  • A 16-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension.
  • Officers of the Perry Police Department escorted a funeral procession to Violet Hill Cemetery.
  • A caller said “she has been scammed.” The caller “said a couple of weeks ago she received a call from an unknown male requesting Social Security information to deposit more money into her account.” The caller said “the information was provided” to the unknown male and about $1,000 “was taken from her account.” An officer responded.
  • Kristi Kay Walker, 42, 305 S. Park Ave., Eagle Grove, Iowa, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and first-offense OWI.
  • A caller said the “neighbors are parked on their property and refused to move their vehicles.” An officer responded and told the caller “the vehicle was parked on private property, and he could have it towed if he liked.”

February 19, 2017

  • Zachary Alan Armstrong, 31, was arrested on charges of third-offense public intoxication and interference with official acts.
  • A caller said “someone is burning out of season in the backyard.” An officer responded and made contact with the burner, “who didn’t know it was out of season.” The fire was extinguished.
  • A caller reported a barking dog. An officer responded and “spoke with the owner of the dog,” who said she “was going to move the dog so it would stop barking.”
  • A caller said two dogs were running at large. An officer responded and searched for the dogs. The caller called again and said “the owner now has the dogs.”
  • A caller said “he needed help with an opossum.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said his neighbor “keeps letting his dog go to the bathroom on his yard.” An officer responded and made contact with the dog owner, “who agreed to pick up after his dog.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. The caller called again and said the owner of the dog caught the dog.
  • Two people entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “they have been getting emails that show” someone “has been using their iPad at various locations in Perry.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she heard a lot of yelling and screaming coming from the apartment below her.” The caller said “she was concerned.” Officers responded and made contact with the yellers downstairs, who said “it was a verbal argument only.”
  • Danielle Janette Dalton, 33, 1723 Pine St., #4, was arrested on a Dallas County warrant on a probation violation for carrying weapons and on charges of first-offense possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

February 20, 2017

  • A caller reported “several fire alarms going off in the Hotel Pattee. Officers responded and found “smoke at the lower level of the hotel, but it was contained to one area.” The Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department assisted a motorist with a disabled vehicle.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
