January 13, 2017

  • A caller said someone “has been texting her.” The caller said she told the person “to stop, or she would call the police. Texts continued,” so she called the police. An officer responded, made contact with the texter and “advised her to make no more contact with” the caller. The officer told the texter that “if the messages continued, charges would be pressed.”
  • Several callers lodged “complaints of people parking in the grass in the area of” a local repair shop. An officer responded and made contact with the business, who said “they will move the vehicle.”
  • An officer of the Clive Police Department called seeking the whereabouts of a person “wanted for an interview regarding a theft at a hotel she works at.” An officer responded and found the address given by the Clive officer “does not exist.”
  • A caller said he was “working out of his home,” and he “remote started his vehicle.” He said he “then heard the alarm go off.” The caller “checked on the vehicle,” and “everything was okay.”
  • A caller said “her foot is bleeding, and she is not sure why.” The caller “said it is pretty serious.” An officer responded, and the Dallas County EMS was paged.
  • A caller said “there was a box with wires hanging out of it” in his alley. An officer responded and “saw a transformer box had been hit by a vehicle, and the wires were currently exposed.” A utility company was notified.
  • A caller said “there was loud music coming from a house or car.” An officer responded and found “a vehicle that had its music playing. It seemed to be headed on its way, and the music was not very loud.”
  • A caller said “he is having problems with his foster daughter, who is throwing things.” Officers responded.

January 14, 2017

  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department found “the overhead garage door was open at” a local business. The business was notified.
  • Logan Lamont Gilliam, 18, of Linden was arrested on charges of third-degree burglary and second-degree theft.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said his son “has disabilities and will be turning 18 tomorrow.” He said his son’s “grandmother on his mom’s side has him convinced tomorrow he can go with her.” The man said he was “concerned the grandmother is taking” his son “or trying to get them in trouble by giving false information to the police.” An officer responded, and “it was decided they would wait till tomorrow to see if the grandmother causes any problems” and then “go on Monday to talk to” the Iowa Department of Human Services “to see if anything could be done.”
  • A caller said “the red light for traffic coming out of the Shopko lot is out.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “her nurse bag is no longer in her car.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “his girlfriend just punched herself in the face while holding her 5-month-old baby.” The caller said “he’s not sure what’s wrong,” but “she is not intoxicated.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “she is not sure but believes a female might be shoplifting.” The caller said the female’s “purse was not that big coming in the store.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she was talking to her daughter on the phone, and her daughter said the baby got in big trouble. He was playing with outlets and plugins.” Officers responded.

January 15, 2017

  • An patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “came upon a disabled vehicle and motorist” and “assisted the driver and her husband in pushing it to a legal parking spot.”
  • Robert Lance Gittins, 64, 1608 Willis Ave., Perry, was arrested on a charge of first-offense OWI.
  • A caller reported “a wild animal, maybe a coyote, that is by the doors of” a local long-term care facility. An officer responded and made contact with the wild animal, which “managed to leave the area.”
  • A caller said someone “removed a Bissell carpet cleaner from the back of his” vehicle. An officer responded.
  • Alexis Masai Salazar of 1924 Otley Ave., Perry, was issued a citation for no insurance-accident related.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “he lost or misplaced his W-2 forms from three different jobs.” He said he “was concerned someone would use his information.” An officer responded and told the man that “if it occurs, to let us know, but he needs to look for the misplaced documents first.”
  • A caller said her parents “were in the yard arguing.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “reported what sounded like three gunshots being fired.” Officers responded and found “the area all quiet.”
  • A 911 caller “said she fell down some steps,” and “it scared her son, and he called 911.” The caller said “she was fine and didn’t need any assistance.”

January 16, 2017

  • A caller said “her sister lives with her and has a golden retriever. The dog is not allowed inside because” the caller “has a small child.” The caller said “the dog is outside, and she is concerned for its welfare with such terrible weather.” The caller called again and said she “got a hold of” the Humane Society of Perry, which “was able to get a volunteer to go pick up the dog.”
  • A caller said “someone broke into the coin boxes in the laundry room.” An officer responded.

January 17, 2017

  • Jereme Raymond Messner, 31, 812 16th St., Perry, was arrested on a Boone County warrant for failure to appear for sentencing on an original charge of interference with official acts and on a Story County warrant for failure to pay child support.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “he had money withdrawn from his account from Tampa, Fla.” An officer responded.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department reported someone “was assaulted” in the “morning” when the victim “was shoved against the door, and the door handle mark was left on her back.” The “case is under investigation.”
  • A caller “reported kids in the back yard of a house behind his, shooting a BB gun.” An officer responded and “advised them of the ordinance,” and “they put the BB gun away.”
  • A caller said “he repaired the washing machine boxes after the theft yesterday,” and “the boxes have been damaged again.” An officer responded.

January 18, 2017

  • Tod Lynn Rickels, 56, 311 Warford St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
