December 29, 2017

  • A caller said two dogs were running at large, and one appeared to be injured. An officer responded but did not find the dogs.
  • A caller said her dog was lost. The caller called again and said her dog was found.
  • Billy Dean Devilbiss, 33, 204 Lucinda St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and on a Guthrie County warrant on a charge of driving while barred.
  • bernadette Goodwin of 177 First Ave., Perry, was issued a citation for first-offense tethering of dog.
  • A caller said “she hit a deer on First Avenue but kept driving and is home now.” An officer responded and completed an accident report. A caller said “he has a dead deer in his yard” and “was wanting a salvage tag for it.” The officer responded and issued the “salvage deer tag.”
  • A 17-year-old male from Boone was arrested on a charge of underage possession of alcohol.
  • A 17-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of underage possession of alcohol.
  • A 17-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of underage possession of alcohol.
  • Izak Hawk Kinkennon, 18, 208 Martin St., Bouton, was arrested on a charge of first-offense possession or purchase of alcohol by a person 18, 19 or 20.
  • Connor Jacob Embrey, 18, 1008 16th St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of first-offense possession or purchase of alcohol by a person 18, 19 or 20.
  • Quentin Lee Pickens, 18, 2211 Story St., Boone, was arrested on a charge of first-offense possession or purchase of alcohol by a person 18, 19 or 20.
  • A caller said her 15-year-old son was “out of control” and “pushing her.” An officer responded, made contact with the child and “calmed him down.”
  • Officers of the Perry Police Department issues 49 citations for violations of the city snow ordinance.

December 30, 2017

  • A caller from the Dallas County Sheriff’s office said “the National Weather Service called them about the water levels of the Raccoon River west of Perry on Iowa Highway 141.” The caller said “it was showing high levels of water,” and the NWS “wanted to see if it was a false alarm.” An officer responded and found the “water levels were normal.”
  • A caller said her cat was lost.
  • Dorothy Meurer, 34, 1314 Willis Ave., #2, Perry, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department caught a dog running at large and transported it to the Perry Animal Holding Facility, where he found the owner of the dog.
  • A caller said he found a set of keys at the U.S. Post Office. An officer responded and returned the keys to their owner.
  • A caller said “the duplex next door should be vacant but there is a fire alarm going off.” An officer responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department stopped a vehicle traveling westbound on Iowa Highway 141 “without headlights on.” The driver said the “vehicle was new to him,” and he “wasn’t aware the lights were off.”
  • A caller “reported loud music coming from” a neighboring residence. The caller said “it is so loud she can;t hear her TV.” An officer responded but found all quiet.
  • A caller said “his step-son” had “hit his half-brother.” Officers responded.
  • A caller reported a male and female “in his front yard as he was getting home.” Officers responded.
  • A caller reported suspicious vehicles. The caller said “she was worried because both she and her neighbor’s dogs were given poison a few weeks ago.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her dog was lost.

December 31, 2017

  • A caller said “the people who live across the street have a dog that is constantly left outside.” An officer responded and made contact with the owner of the dog.
  • A caller requested a welfare check on someone “due to his not showing up for his appointment.” An officer responded and made contact with the person, who “was fine but didn’t have a ride.”
  • A caller said she “removed box springs from Iowa Highway 141 and 10th Street” but was concerned “if the wind picked up, it would blow back into the roadway.” An officer responded and determined “the box springs were far enough from the highway” and “should be okay.”
  • A caller said her husband “said he was going to get his ladder and hang himself” and then “went outside.” Officers responded and made contact with the husband, who said “he was having a rough night due to financial problems and losing his job.” He said he “made a statement about self-harm in the heat of the moment but denied any actual thoughts of suicide.”
  • Maria Isabel Valdez, 61, 1619 Willis Ave., Perry, was issued a citation for no valid driver’s license and failure to maintain control.

January 1, 2018

  • A caller reported “noise coming from the downtown area.” An officer responded and found all quiet.
  • A caller said he lent his car to someone in Omaha while he was overseas, and now the person he lent the car to “does not answer his phone calls. He would like his car back.” An officer responded and attempted to make contact with the Omaha Police Department.
  • A caller said “her mailbox was damaged.” An officer responded and “observed the mailbox was slightly bent.”
  • Patricia Lee Messner, 50, was issued a citation for no valid driver’s license and no proof of insurance.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
