January 7, 2017

  • A caller reported “an unruly customer” who “was upset and caused a scene because they were unable to do a return on a product she thought was defective.” Officers responded and explained to the upset customer and the male in her company that “if they had a problem with the produce, they needed to contact the manufacturer. Customers left.”
  • A caller said “she is alone and has fallen.” The caller said she “does not believe she is injured” but “just can’t get up.” An officer responded, and the Perry First Responders were paged and assisted in raising the fallen woman.
  • A caller said he “want to his storage unit and found the lock had been changed.” The caller said he contacted the owner, who “cut the current lock off, and it is obvious the unit has been tampered with.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “he has agreed to let his girlfriend stay in the trailer and that he is going to stay with his mother.” He said he “just wanted to know what he should do as far as documenting the verbal agreement.” An officer responded.

January 8, 2017

  • Roscoe Ludwig Anderson, 54, 803 Third St., #3, Perry, was arrested on a charge of second-offense public intoxication.
  • A caller “requested assistance catching an opossum that is hiding in her basement.” An officer responded and loaned the caller a trap.
  • A caller said his step-son “is acting crazy.” Officers responded and found the step-son “was having mental-health problems and was intoxicated.” Officers responded, and Mobile Crisis responded and determined the step-son “needed to go to the hospital.” An officer transported the step-son to Dallas County Hospital.
  • Jessica Lynn Johnston, 37, 304 Hendricks St., #3, Rippey, was arrested on a Polk County warrant for probation violation on an original charge of domestic abuse assault with intent-display of weapon.
  • Mart Ulysses Downing, 42, 2539 E. 23rd St., Des Moines, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false identification information and on a Polk County warrant for failure to pay child support.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
