July 12, 2018

  • Officers of the Perry Police Department conducted a funeral escort.
  • Austin Kyle Brinks, 27, 311 Elm St., Jewell, Iowa, was arrested on a Perry warrant on charges of third-degree burglary and fifth-degree criminal mischief.
  • A caller said she was “not sure is she needed to give a ride to a person who doesn’t look like they are in good shape.” The caller said she “thought she should take him herself” because she was “so close to the hospital.” She said the person was a male “60 years old with numbness.” The caller “requested contact be made with the ER to let her know she was on her way.” The Dallas County Hospital emergency room was notified.
  • A caller said “someone damaged his pool.” The caller said the damage happened “sometime today” when “someone kicked their pool.” The caller “also complained about her neighbor’s truck” being “parked partly in her yard.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “said he is being harassed by” someone “who has been calling him names and flipping him off.” An officer responded and explained to the man “how to get a no-contact order.”
  • A caller said “they found the frame of the bike they reported stolen.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a “mosquito catcher was stolen from his yard.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a suspicious male who’s been standing around in the area of her apartment.” An officer responded but did not find a suspicious man.
  • A caller said “she keeps receiving harassing phone calls and text messages from” someone. An officer responded, “and both parties were advised to not have any more communication with each other or harassment charges could result.”
  • A caller reported “an abandoned bike.” An officer responded.

July 13, 2018

  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said someone “had just punched him.” The man said the puncher “blocked him with his own truck, jumped out and proceeded to punch him.” Officers responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
