July 16, 2018

  • A caller said “someone broke into his work truck.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “reported a beaver running east down the alley from his residence.” An officer responded but did not find the at-large beaver.
  • A caller said “his tenant” has “a large dog in the house,” and the caller said he “wanted an officer to take possession of the dog” so that the caller could change the locks on the rental until. An officer responded and said “we can’t do that and to contact his tenant and have her meet them.” The officer also advised the caller of the civil eviction process.
  • A caller said “he noticed his garden tiller missing.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her neighbor “told her if she didn’t pay her $2,000, she was going to start a rumor.” An officer responded and spoke with the caller and the neighbor.
  • A caller said his dog was lost. The caller called again and said his dog was found.
  • A caller “reported black spray paint graffiti on their garage.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he “locked his keys in his truck.” The caller hung up before an officer could respond.
  • A caller reported a man “stumbling around on the west side of the road.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “she can see smoke coming out of her vents and roof.” Officers responded and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • A caller said “he was having a mental breakdown and began crying.” The caller said “he’s thinking about suicide,” and “he’d taken Klonopin and had been drinking.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “she received a voicemail asking to pay the IRS or there would be a warrant out for her arrest.” The caller “was told to delete the voicemail and not give out any information for future calls as well” from phone scammers.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. in order “to report her 16-year-old daughter missing.” An officer responded and a “report was filled out and entered into the Iowa National Crime Information Center.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. “while on the phone with the Des Moines Police Department,” which “requested legal documents for her father-in-law who is at their station be faxed to them.” The Perry Police Department Dispatchers “assisted with faxing papers.”

July 17, 2018

  • A caller said “she rolled out of bed and landed on the ground” and now “needs assistance getting up.” The Perry First Responders and the Dallas County EMS were paged.
  • A “caller reported four cows on the lot next to theirs.” Officers responded and made contact with the owner of the cows, and the “cows were retrieved.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
