  • A caller from Jefferson said someone from Perry “called her four times this morning” with harassing calls. An officer responded and made contact with the Perry caller, who said “he had called” the Jefferson caller “one time in an attempt to make contact with his brother,” the Jefferson caller’s father. The Perry caller said “he would delete her number from his phone to avoid any further issues.”
  • Ryan Jacob Ayers, 26, 413 Fourth St., Perry, was arrested on charges of assault causing injury and trespass causing injury or damage greater than $200.
  • A caller said “her 14-year-old daughter and 9-year old child are home, and there is a man walking around the residence, taking pictures.” The caller said “the children are scared.” An officer responded and made contact with two people, who said “they were insurance adjustors looking at the property for the landlord.”
  • A caller said someone “who rides a bike all the time was in the building, yelling and screaming.” Officers responded but did not find the screaming person.
  • A caller said “she has an employee who quit showing up for work.” The caller said the employee “has keys to the store.” An officer responded and made contact with the employee, who “said she quit her job” and “would return the keys.”
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital said “a patient just walked out.” The caller “said they are working on a committal order but do not have one at this time.” An officer responded but did not find the patient.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and asked to speak with an officer about a “Publisher’s Clearinghouse scam.” An officer responded.
  • A caller from the Dallas County Hospital said “the man who walked out returned and is being aggressive towards staff.” Officers responded, but the man was gone. The officers determined “there was no committal order, and the subject hadn’t committed any crimes.”
  • A caller said “her bike was stolen.” An officer responded and “was able to locate the bike, and it was returned.”
  • A caller said someone “was just at his door, attempting to sell him some books.” The caller “said she is an exchange student from Estonia.” An officer responded, made contact with the peddler and determined “she is registered through the city.”
  • A caller from a local retail store “requested an officer respond to the store and look at video.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “his neighbors to the south have chickens they allow to run loose.” A caller responded but found “no one home at the residence with the chickens.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and “chased the dog” but “was unable to catch the dog.”
  • A caller said two dogs were running at large. An officer responded and “tried to get the dogs,” but “both left in different directions.”
  • A caller said his cat was lost.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department found “the lights in the Wiese Park parking lot are out.” Alliant Energy was notified.

July 19, 2018

  • Hector Cardona, 24, 1414 Fifth St., #1, Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving while barred.
  • A caller said “she found a baggie with some white, powdery substance in it.” The caller said she “believes it to be some type of drug and requested an officer pick it up.” An officer responded and determined an unknown person “dropped a baggie of methamphetamine on the floor.” The item “was placed into evidence.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is assumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
