July 29, 2016

  • A caller said “she was being followed around town by” a vehicle. An officer responded and told her to drive her vehicle to the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. An officer located the vehicle trailing the caller, stopped it and spoke with its driver. The trailing driver said “he was only trying to tell” the caller that “she had a brake light out, and he was going to follow her until she stopped and let her know.” The officer told the trailing driver “this was probably not a good idea as he had freaked her out.” The officer advised the trailing driver “to no longer do this sort of thing.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the animal.
  • A caller said a “short, heavy-set female” and a “tall, thin male” were “looking into the window of a vacant house.” The caller “said she thought they were looking for a way in.” An officer responded but did not find the couple. The officer noted a For Sale sign in front of the vacant property.
  • A caller said “the neighbor’s dog broke its leash and attacked their dog.” An officer responded. Wayne Werner of 1807 Evelyn St. in Perry was issued a citation for first-offence failure to have rabies vaccinations for his dogs.
  • Alexander Olmos Hertado, 22, 1402 Sixth St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving while suspended.
  • Palomar Perez, 19, 2508 Perry Park Ave., #319, Perry, was arrested on charges of forgery, possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license and driving without insurance.
  • Karry Lynn Ferguson, 37, 2014 Warford St., Perry, was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, two counts of unlawful possession of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

July 30, 2016

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the animal.
  • A caller said she caught two dogs running at large. An officer responded and transported the dogs to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • A caller said she caught a dog running at large. An officer responded and transported the dog to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • A caller said she caught a dog running at large. An officer responded and transported the dog to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified. Another caller said her dog, matching the description of the transported dog, was missing. An officer responded and directed the caller to make contact with the Humane Society of Perry.
  • A caller from the Humane Society of Perry said a dog escaped from the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • Ousmane Camara, 26, 2120 11th St., #208, Emmetsburg, was arrested on charges of first-offense OWI and interference with official acts.
  • Benjamin Thomas Ohrtman, 33, 1924 Sixth St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
