Perry Police Report June 22

June 20, 2017

A caller said “her daughter was on her bike and was struck by a vehicle.” An officer responded and learned the incident occurred the previous day when two girls were riding their bicycles. The caller said the driver of the vehicle “stopped to check on the girls, and then they all left.” The “bikes had minor damage,” and one of the girls “had a bruise on her knee.”

A caller requested “a no-trespass order be issued to her nephew.” The caller said she did not want her nephew “coming to her apartment when he was intoxicated or using drugs.” An officer responded.

“A screaming female” called and said she and someone “were in another dispute.” Officers responded, and the “male half moved out.”

A caller said “she might have a groundhog problem in her backyard.” An officer responded and “discussed different options with her.”

A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. in order to “report a problem he is having with a neighbor.” The man said the neighbor “has been throwing branches that fall on her property from a tree that is on the property line.” He said the neighbor “also just cut some branches off that fall on her property and threw them on his side.” An officer responded and tried to make contact with the neighbor.

A caller reported “a branch big enough to cause an accident laying” in the roadway. An officer responded and moved the branch off the roadway. The Perry Public Works Department was notified.

A caller said she caught a dog running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.

Hector Cardona, 23, was arrested on a Perry warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.

A caller said she “just arrived home,” and “from her car she can see the back door standing open.” Officers responded and “walked through the residence,” where “everything appeared to be okay.”

June 21, 2017

A caller said her mother was “refusing to give her truck keys back to her.” Officers responded and learned the “mother did not want the daughter leaving on a trip without any rest.”

David Riedle, 22, 2949 Kading Road, Perry, was arrested on charges of first-offense OWI-drug related, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to have a valid license and failure to have insurance.

A caller said two dogs were running at large. An officer responded but was unable to catch the dogs.

A caller said “that her estranged boyfriend moved out yesterday,” and “he took some of her items, including things out of her purse.” An officer responded.

A caller from the Dallas County Hospital said “there is a 10-year-old child in the emergency room with a significant dog bite.” The caller said the “dog bit the child in the face behind the ear.” The caller said “this is not the first time the dog has bitten someone, and the owner is aware that the dog will be ‘in trouble.'” An officer responded and “instructed” the owner that the dog must be “quarantined for two weeks.” The animal clinic later called and said the “owner brought the dog but did not have the ability to pay up-front costs,” and so the “owner took the dog home.”

A caller said “someone came into her residence” and “stole something from her jewelry box.” The caller said “things in the house were not in their place,” and she was “not sure what else may be missing.” An officer responded.

The department received a hang-up 911 call. On call back, a woman said “kids were playing with the phone.” The “area was patrolled,” and “all appeared to be okay.”

The department received a wireless 911 call. On call back, the caller said “he is currently at the school.” Officers responded.

A caller said the neighbors were “shooting off loud fireworks.” An officer responded and found “no evidence of fireworks being used.”

A caller said she “heard what sounds like eight gunshots.” An officer responded and did not locate any loud sounds.

Jeremiah Matthew Messner, 26, 1900 Willow St., Denver, Colo., was arrested on charges of first-offense public intoxication, disorderly conduct-loud or raucous noise and fugitive from justice.

A caller said “her neighbor may be vandalizing her garden and doing other questionable things to her.” The caller said she “found a snake with its head sliced off on her patio and saw her neighbor outside, and when she came back the snake was gone.” An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
