June 27, 2017

  • A caller said she caught a dog running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding facility.
  • A caller said “she believes someone broke her screen window” because “her jewelry box was moved,” but she “doesn’t believe anything was missing. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “he thinks someone deliberately killed his dog.” He said the dog was “inside an outdoor kennel.” He said he left the “dogs outside for a few hours” while he was away and “upon returning home, he found the dog deceased inside the kennel.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone ransacked his unlocked vehicle.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a little girl 2 to 3 years of age wandering around in the alley.” The caller said the child “appears to be unattended.” An officer responded, and the child “was taken back to her mother.”
  • A caller said someone “keeps calling him.” An officer responded and made contact with the third party, who said “she hasn’t talked to” the caller “for a month.”
  • A caller “complained of fireworks being set off.” An officer responded but did not find any violators of the fireworks ordinance.
  • A caller said “he just caught a juvenile who appeared to be 8 to 10 years of age attempting to steal his driveway lights..” The caller said he “shined a flashlight on the juvenile, who took off running across the street.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her dog was lost. The caller was “advised that a dog matching this description was taken to the pound earlier in the day.”
  • A caller said she believed she witnessed “a drug deal that took place.” An officer responded.

June 28, 2017

  • A caller said two males were outside her residence. The caller said she knew who the males were but “was afraid to open the door before the officers arrived.” Officer responded.
  • A caller said her two dogs were lost.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “saw a couple of subjects run through” a commercial parking lot and concluded “they stole some fireworks.” Investigation revealed “three boxes of fireworks looked to be stolen from the fireworks stand.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “she is having problems with her daughter.” She said “her daughter brought a couple of guys into their home without talking to her.” She said she “also wanted to know what to do if she ran away.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a large orange object in the middle of the highway.” An officer responded but did not find the item.
  • A caller said she locked herself out of her house. An officer responded and “assisted her with getting her house unlocked.”
  • A caller “reported fireworks being shot off in the middle of the street.” An officer responded and made contact with someone who said “he was watching his little brother and friends while shooting off bottle rockets.” The officer “explained the city ordinance,” and the violator said “he understood and would not let it happen again until the Fourth of July.”
  • A caller said she “saw a man stumbling around in a vacant lot” and “then fall between two houses.” An officer responded and made contact with the stumbling person, who “said he must have been riding his bike too hard” and “was going to rest.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding facility.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “a vehicle was stolen from her mother’s property.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a man “was doing flips in a vacant lot” and “talking loudly to himself while walking down the street.” An officer responded but did not find the flipping man. The caller called again and said “”she saw the man put something in a culvert,” and “she looked in the culvert and found a gun.” An officer responded and “took possession of a BB gun,” which was “logged into evidence.”
  • A caller said “she rents from her parents,” and “they came to her residence today and told her she needed to be out of the house in two days.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “some other kids were shooting fireworks towards them.” An officer responded.
  • Ryan Jacob Ayers, 25, 413 Fourth St., Perry, was arrested on a Boone County warrant for contempt of court-failure to serve time on an original charge of assault.
  • A caller said “large fireworks were being shot off in the area.” An officer responded and made contact with the violators.
  • A caller said “there was someone outside of her residence that was shining a light in her windows.” An officer responded but did not find anyone shining lights.

June 29, 2017

  • Lukas Broderick Hemphill, 27, 1619 Fifth St., Perry, was arrested on three Dallas County warrants for probation violation on an original charge of burglary, probation violation on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear on an original charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury. Hemphill was also arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Kyle Douglas Goodman, 27, 1418 Sixth St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of failure to appear on an original charge of driving under suspension.
  • A 16-year-old female from Oelwein was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile was “listed as a missing person out of Cedar Rapids” and held for the Fayette County Sheriff’s office.
  • A 17-year-old male from Grand Junction was arrested on a charge of underage possession of alcohol.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department found a dog running at large but was unable to catch the at-large animal.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
