Perry Police Report March 27-28

March 27, 2018

  • A caller reported “someone outside the door.” An officer responded, and the caller said “the persons left after” he called the police.
  • A caller said “the raccoon that officers have been called out to get was just in his driveway” and might be “under a car by now.” All “officers were busy on a priority call.”
  • A Tigrinya speaker entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “he worked at Tyson for seven years.” The man “kept pointing at his hand” and “said he was injured. He does not get medecine. He was told to go home.” An officer responded,  “called Tyson to attempt to figure out the problem” and learned from Tyson authorities that the Tigrinya speaker “was suspended due to several times being written up,” and “his job is in jeopardy. It took about an hour to get him to leave.”
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department taught a DARE class at the Perry Elementary School.
  • A caller said “his wife is upset with him for being late” and “is threatening to lock him out of the house.” The caller “wanted to know what his rights were.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her dog was lost.
  • A wireless 911 caller from Des Moines reported “a family dispute situation.” The caller was transferred to the Polk County Sheriff’s office.

March 28, 2018

  • A caller said “people are back outside his door again.” The caller said he “believes they have guns today” and “can see the light on his phone and know that he” called the police. Officers responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
