May 23, 2018

  • A caller said “someone hit the side of her car sometime this morning.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “the neighbors’ dog killed a cat,” a “stray cat that has been coming around for a long ime.” The “caller was upset.” An officer responded, “took the cat and disposed of it at the waste water plant.”
  • A caller said the president of a talent agency “has received several calls from” a Perry number, and the caller from Perry “has laughed evilly” and “left messages,” and on “the last one they said, ‘Die. Die. Die.'” An officer responded and made contact with the caller from Perry, who “said he was upset with some of the company’s clients, and he knew he made a mistake calling them.” The caller from Perry “assured the officer that he would not contact them anymore.”
  • A caller reported “people coming to his residence asking for food.” The caller said “he doesn’t know if they are playing games or what the deal is.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “a motor and transmission was stolen.” An officer responded and learned “they took half a tank of gas as well.”
  • A caller from the Perry Elementary School said a 9-year-old child “has not yet been picked up,” and school dismissed 90 minutes ago. An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “her sister’s ex-husband” keeps “sending her text messages.” An officer responded, made contact with the ex-husband and advised him to cease all communications.
  • A caller reported “about 10 ducklings running around Ben Franklin.” An officer responded and detained and transported the ducklings to a rehabilitator.
  • A caller said “someone had broken into his garage.” An officer responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department approached a man in the parking lot of a business, and the man fled from the officer. The officer “told him to come back and speak,” but the fleeing man “said he was going to Hy-Vee and did nothing wrong.” Officers pursued the fleeing man to a wooded area “but turned up nothing.”

May 24, 2018

  • Jason Michael Whited, 43, 1195 N.W. Aurora Ave., #6, Des Moines, was arrested on charges of driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said she lost her billfold. An officer responded.
  • A caller from West Des Moines said “they have a patient who advised she lives in a home” that is “unliveable.” An officer responded and “contacted the Animal Rescue League to try to locate a shelter for the cats.”
  • A caller said “her significant other has changed the locks during his lunch break,” and now “she is not able to get into the house.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “that she left her keys and all her belongings inside her car,” and “she also has a child in there, but it is running.” An officer responded and opened the vehicle.
  • A caller said “she could not find her 5-year-old son.” An officer responded and “located the missing child,” who was returned to his mother.
  • A caller said “he was with an injured bird.” An officer responded and found “a young boy holding a middle-aged bird.” The officer determined there was “nothing wrong with the bird” and “told the boy to release the bird. The bird was released.”
  • A caller said “he had been locked out of his house and believed” the Perry Police Department “had an extra pair of keys.” An officer responded and explained the “department does not have a set of keys.”
  • A caller reported “kids playing by a tree” and “swinging on a branch near a pond.” An officer responded and “found no problems.”
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department caught a dog running at large and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said he could hear a “wife crying and a man yelling with dark pants, saying he was going to beat someone up.” Officers responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department made contact with a man “at the Hotel Pattee courtyard,” who said “he was using the wifi from the hotel.” The officer directed the man “not to be in the courtyard after dark unless he was staying at the hotel.”
  • A caller said her neighbors “are playing very loud music, and she is trying to sleep.” The caller also said “their dogs keep barking.” An officer responded and found “no loud music or dog barking upon arrival.”

May 25, 2018

  • Teigan Travis Meyers, 20, 2907 Waford St., Perry, was arrested on charges of public intoxication, second-offense OWI, interference with official acts, fifth-degree theft, driving while revoked and driving under suspension.
  • A caller said her dog was lost.
  • A caller said “her husband’s vehicle had been hit sometime during the night.” An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
