May 29, 2017

  • A caller said “it has been about a month and her” daughter “still has not received a title” for a car she bought. An officer responded, said it was a civil issue and “suggested they contact the dealership.”
  •  A wireless 911 caller hung up. A perry Police Department dispatcher called back and spoke with a woman, who said “she did not call 911, but her daughter was playing with the phone.” An officer responded and “verified everything is okay.”
  • A caller said “she lived at the apartment where the roof collapsed.” She said “their care was damaged,” and she “didn’t know what to do about it.” An officer responded and advised her to make contact with her vehicle insurance company, “and possibly the building manager can provide insurance information to give to the vehicle insurance company.”
  • A caller said “he is taking care of a few kids that the Iowa Department of Human Services left under his care.” He said “a woman who lives” nearby “came out yelling at them as to why they had not seen the No Trespassing sign she has posted.” The caller said the woman “cursed at the kids, which are about 7-9 years old.” An officer responded and spoke with the woman “about her No Trespassing signs and how she handle the situation with the boys.” The woman said “one of the boys was being disrespectful toward her, and that’s what got her upset.”
  • A caller reported a dog running at large. An officer responded but could not catch the dog.
  • A caller said a dog was “tangled up and looks like it is having trouble breathing.” An officer responded and found the owner of the dog taking the dog indoors.
  • A capper reported a dead cat in the roadway. An officer responded and made contact with the Perry Public Works Department.
  • A caller said she and her husband “had received a three-day notice from their landlord, stating that he was canceling their lease agreement and they had three days to leave the premises.” The caller wanted “to know if they had to get all their stuff out of the residence.” An officer responded and said “that it didn’t appear to be an official eviction notice,” but the officer “suggested that they contact the Dallas County Sheriff’s office and speak with the civil department about the notice they had received.”

May 30, 2017

  • A caller said someone “has called her 15 times and sent her 30 text messages since last night.” The caller said she and the person “are no longer together, and she would like the harassing to cease.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a cell phone she found. An officer responded.
  • A caller asked for “help to free a raccoon.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone took his prescription medication when he left this morning, and someone keeps cutting his gas line to his vehicle.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a billfold he found. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “her wallet was stolen from her vehicle.” An officer responded.

May 31, 2017

  • A 17-year-old male from Perry was issued a citation for first-offense curfew violation.
  • A 15-year-old male from Perry was issued a citation for first-offense curfew violation.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
