November 21, 2017

  • A manager of a local apartment complex called and said she “received a couple of complaints of a peeping tom in the area.” The caller requested extra patrol of the apartments. Officers responded.
  • A caller said an adult “male flipped off her child as she was taking him into the” daycare center. Officers responded and made contact with someone matching the caller’s description. The person “denied making any type of contact with anyone.”
  • A caller said she “received a strange call coming from” someone who “told her she owned money on a case for writing bad checks. They told her they would go get her, and they knew where she lived.” The caller said she “was startled” by the call. An officer responded and advised the caller “to call if someone did go to her residence.”
  • A caller said “there are phone books and boxes all over the street in front of her residence.” The Perry Public Works Department was notified.
  • A caller from a local retail store “requested an officer stop by and look at a video of a young female that appeared to be stealing cheese.” Officers responded and reviewed the video and determined “the suspect did in fact steal the cheese.” The caller requested the suspect be served with a no-trespass order.
  • A caller “requested a welfare check on his 14-month-old son.” An officer responded and made contact with the guardians of the child, “who was fine.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “while carrying a basket of laundry to her apartment, she was shoved by” someone who was now “harassing her on Facebook.” An officer responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department encountered someone who claimed items were stolen from her basement “sometime in the last six months.” The officer responded.
  • A manager of a local apartment complex called and requested a welfare check on one of her tenants. The caller said “a fire alarm is going off inside the apartment, and she can’t get anyone to answer the door.” An officer responded and made contact with the occupant, who “said they had burned something on the stove,” but everything was fine.” The officer directed the occupant to “answer his door” because “the manager wanted to make sure everything was okay.” The occupant “said he would.”

November 22, 2017

  • Colton Jennings Siglin, 26, 308 Lucinda St., Perry, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
  • A caller said the front door of a vacant church “was wide open.” Officers responded, “searched the building and found no one inside.” The realtor was notified.
  • A caller said “there was an injured deer in the ditch.” An officer “responded and took care of the deer.”
  • A caller said a juvenile “slipped over a bench outside the building that caused damage to it.”
  • A caller said her 14-year-old son is missing. An officer responded, and the juvenile was “entered into the Iowa/NCIC.” The child was later found, “processed and removed from the Iowa/NCIC.”

  • A caller said “he believes someone is entering his apartment when he’s not home.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone spray painted the back license plate of their vehicle with black paint.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a car alarm going off.” An officer responded and found “the area all quiet.”
  • A caller said people were “walking around with flashlights” inside a vacant house. An officer responded, made contact with the people and learned they were “in the process of buying the house.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said she lost her wallet.

November 23, 2017

  • A caller from the Des Moines Police Department said the department arrested Loren Dean Spidle, 58, on a charge of second-degree theft.
  • A caller “requested to speak with an officer about dog neglect.” An officer responded.
  • An African American with limited English called and said “a child was screaming for her mother.” The caller said “the mother might be dead as he does not hear a response from her.” The caller said he “believes she was killed by people from his country.” Officers responded and tried to make contact with the caller, who “kept yelling that he will not open the door for the white officers.” The officers “checked all of the apartments,” and “everyone appears to be okay.”
  • A caller said he “just noticed his car was hit while it was parked.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said “his ex is not abiding by the custody paperwork.” An officer responded and advised the caller “to take her back to court.”
  • Callers reported “a male and a female fighting out in the street a few houses down.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said a group of males “were trespassing on his property by walking through his yard.” The caller said “he is blocking them from leaving by standing in front of the vehicle.” An officer responded and made contact with the group of males, who said “they were just throwing away some items in the dumpster and didn’t realize that it wasn’t for the public. They were advised not to go on the complainant’s property and not to use that dumpster anymore.”
  • A caller reported “a tall, thin man carrying a flashlight that looked suspicious.” An officer responded but did not find the person.

November 24, 2017

  • A caller said “he heard a car alarm go off.” An officer responded and made contact with a man who said “he was trying to start his truck and every time he turned the key and the truck started, the car alarm would go off.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
