November 28, 2017

  • A caller “reported a suspicious female hanging around the area of one of her rental properties.” An officer responded and made contact with the suspicious person, who “was very vague in her information but finally stated that she was homeless and was just staying with unidentified friends.” The officer found no outstanding arrest warrants for the homeless person, who “didn’t appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol” and “didn’t have any medical issues either,” so the person “was allowed to move along.”
  • A caller said her dog was lost. The caller later called and said her dog was found.
  • A caller reported a suspicious female. An officer responded and made contact with “the same female he had dealt with earlier.” The homeless person “was still dressed the same and had the same bag.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “in the last few months two bikes were stolen from her garage.” An officer responded.
  • Kirsten Leigh Palmer, 23, 808 Third St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of third-degree theft.
  • A caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department would “stand by while she removes her belongings.” An officer responded and stood by.
  • Two people entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with two “debit cards they found at the boat ramp.” Officers responded and the items were “logged into evidence.”
  • A caller reported “a person dressed in black that’s been loitering in her for the past 10 minutes.” Officers responded but did not find the loiterer.
  • A caller reported “a woman dressed in black who keeps peeking around the east end of” a downtown building. Officers responded and made contact with the peeking woman.

November 29, 2017

  • Edwin Alexander Escalante, 33, 1007 Dewey Ave., #7, Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension.
  • A caller reported “an injured deer on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of Iowa Highway 141.” An officer “responded and put down the deer.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed until and unless proven guilty.
