November 4, 2016

  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. in order “to see if there is a warrant for her daughter” on a charge of “some type of credit card theft.” An officer responded, and no warrants were found.
  • A caller from a local automobile dealership said she tried to cash a $3,000 check written in June and “found the account closed” since April. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she has some concerns about the children” at a certain location “and potential drug usage.” Officers responded.
  • Someone from a local financial services business entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with “documents showing that an individual made deposits into an account, but the envelopes were empty.” The fake depositor “then got cash out on her card.” An officer responded and started an investigation.
  • A caller reported a barking dog. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “there was a stray cat in his apartment running loose.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a couple of males behaving suspiciously/” Officers responded but did not find the suspicious males.

November 5, 2016

  • Donnie Wayne Smith, 56, 2717 Warford St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of second-offense OWI.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “came upon some debris on the roadway” and removed it.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded.
  • A caller from a local factory said a man “was refusing to leave.” Officers responded and made contact with the man, who said “he was just trying to go back to work.” A factory employee said the man “had quit and no longer was allowed access.”
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department “found numerous amounts of Social Security cards.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said she was “concerned in regards to her sister.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and issued a citation for second-offense dog at large to Amanda K. Martin of 1710 Second St. in Perry
  • Maria Candelaria Chic Medrano, 42, 1419 Otley Ave., Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension and issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial liability.
  • John Redig, 1725 Otley Ave., Perry, was issued a citation for first-offense dog at large.
  • A 16-year-old male from Perry and a 16-year-old male from De Soto were arrested on charges of fifth-degree criminal mischief.
  • A caller reported a barking dog. An officer responded.
  • Blake Alexander Daniels, 20, of West Des Moines was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension and was issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial liability.

November 6, 2016

  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “there are people sleeping in a car.” An officer responded and found a man “sleeping in his vehicle due to his girlfriend not letting him back into his apartment.”
  • Alan Randolph Heywood Jr., 32, 1453 Searle St., Des Moines, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.
  • A caller said “someone is burning trash at a vacant house.” An officer responded and “found only leaves burning.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “requested to talk to an officer regarding identity theft.” An officer responded.
  • Larry Maurice Wright, 32, 1274 E. Stewart St., Des Moines, was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree theft.
  • A caller said “the lock was missing off his storage unit,” and “several items were missing.” An officer responded.
  • A 14-year-old male from Perry and a 13-year-old male from Perry were arrested on charges of fifth-degree theft.
  • “Three girls brought a stray cat to” the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.

November 7, 2016

  • Harley Ray Kidd, 21, 708 1/2 Fourth St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension and was issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial liability.
  • Shane Kenneth Laird, 34, of Des Moines was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false identification information.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
