November 8, 2017

  • A caller from a local dental office reported items missing from the office. The caller said “the door was locked, and they are unable to find any open windows or anything.” An officer responded.
  • A caller from a local gasoline retailer said “someone drove off with the gas nozzle,” and “gas spilled around the parking lot.” An officer responded, and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • A caller said her billfold was lost. The caller called again and said her billfold was found.
  • A caller said “his vehicle was struck by another vehicle while parked in the Tyson’s parking lot.” The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “requested to talk to an officer about harassing phone calls she’s been receiving from an unknown person in Maine.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “some kids that live next door are kicking a ball against her windows.” An officer responded and made contact with a neighbor, who said “she did catch her son kicking a ball at the neighbor’s house but stated they do not get along.” The officer “advised” the neighbor to “speak with her sons” and explain that “if damage is dome at a future date, further problems could occur.”
  • An owner of rental property called and said a tenant “moved out.” The caller “wanted to know what her rights were in regard to changing the locks and not allowing the tenant back in.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a wallet she found. An officer responded, tried to make contact with the owner of the item, which was “logged into evidence.”
  • Officers of the Perry Police Department “gave a Boy Scout troop a tour of the police department.”
  • A caller said “every morning a red two-door Mustang hardtop speeds on Willis Avenue and turns onto 18th Street.” The caller said “the vehicle is traveling approximately 50 to 60 mph while on Willis.”
  • Two callers reported “a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Iowa Highway 141” in the vicinity of U.S. Highway 169. Area law enforcement agencies were alerted.
  • A caller said “she heard a loud noise” that “sounded like something was being rammed into the west side of the apartment complex.” An officer responded and found “no signs of any damage or problems.”

November 9, 2017

  • Officers of the Perry Police Department conducted a funeral escort.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
