November 12, 2020
- A 2020 Mini, registered to Marlys and Steven Farrell of 1215 Douglas Ave., Des Moines, and driven by Siana Jesslyn Jensen of 1215 Douglas Ave., Des Moines, collided with a 2010 Nissan Altima, registered to and driven by Maria Guadalupe Vidal Chavez of 2514 Perry Park Ave, Perry, near 16th and Iowa streets. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $4,000.

- Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the 700 block of 26th Street. The mother and daughter were calmed.
- A 2006 Toyota, registered to Juan Zuniga Rosas of 2221 Record St., Perry, and driven by Alexsander Nunez of 2221 Record St., Perry, collided with a 2008 Chrysler Sebring, registered to and driven by Diane Elaine Miner of 1707 Warford St., Perry. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $1400. “The driver of vehicle 1 told me he ran into the back of vehicle 2. He stated he got distracted by his younger brother because he was telling him to put his seat belt on. He stated when he looked back to the roadway, it was too late to stop, and he couldn’t avoid hitting vehicle 2 as it had stopped and was attempting to make a left turn into the parking lot of Fareway. . . . I spoke to him and explained because he was trying to make sure his younger brother was wearing his seat belt I was not going to cite him. I told him it was very important to pay attention to the other traffic around him while he is driving. I also spoke to his younger brother about the importance of putting on his seat belt as soon as he gets into the vehicle.”
