Perry Police Report Oct. 10

October 7, 2016

  • A caller reported “a possible break in.” The caller said “she heard someone attempting to open her screen, at which point she screamed, and the person ran off toward the west.” The caller said she also “believed someone had come into her house” two days previously. She said she found “her house door was wide open,” and “some of her belongings had been moved around” when someone “went through some of her drawers in her bedroom.” She said “nothing was missing.” An officer responded and found “the screen was slightly bent but no other damage.”
  • A caller said “two suspicious” males were “riding around on dark bicycles” and “seemed to be scoping out the houses.” An officer responded but did not find the bicyclists.
  • A caller said her son’s bicycle was stolen. An officer responded, found the bicycle and returned it to its owner.
  • A caller said her two dogs were missing.
  • A caller said he son was “hysterical due to two clown sightings.” An officer responded but did not find the clowns.
  • Jacey Mae Spoo, 25, 2620 McKinley St., #21, Perry, was arrested on Dallas County warrants on charges of failure to appear on original charges of possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, first-offense OWI and driving while denied or revoked.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department encountered “a group of kids that took off running from him for some reason.” The officer was assisted by another officer, and together they located the children and spoke with them.
  • A 911 caller said “a couple nights ago a co-worker pulled a gun on him and that he is outside of his room door, banging on it now.” Officers responded and spoke with the co-workers. They “agreed to leave each other alone.”

October 8, 2016

  • A caller reported barking dogs. An officer responded but did not hear any barking dogs.
  • A caller said her son “has taken her car without permission and has not returned home.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “requested to speak to an officer regarding his landlord.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “called in regards to her boyfriend throwing her to the ground.” The caller said she “just wanted to get her stuff out.” An officer responded and stood by while the caller removed her belongings.
  • A caller reported “an abandoned bike at his residence.” An officer responded and “transported the bike to the bike shed.”
  • A caller said her ex-husband “has visitation with their two children this weekend.” She said “when she calls, he isn’t answering,” and “she’s concerned for the children’s welfare.” An officer responded, located the ex-husband and “relayed the message to him that his wife was trying to get a hold of him.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the animal.
  • A caller said “a group of about 15 men dressed in tuxedos” were drinking on the street. Officers responded and told the tuxedoed men “they needed to stay on La Poste property if they were going to be drinking.”
  • A caller reported “a strong odor in the area of her residence.” She said it was an odor “similar to sulfur.” An officer responded and “located people in a garage grinding metal off a vehicle.”
  • A caller reported seeing a figure “wearing a clown mask and a blue shirt and carrying a baseball bat.” Officers responded but did not find the clown.
  • A caller said a cat was running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.

October 9, 2016

  • A caller “said she and her boyfriend” had “an argument,” and the boyfriend “pulled out a gun and started waving it around.” The caller said the boyfriend “agreed to exit the residence and wait in his truck for the officers to arrive,” while the caller remained indoors with the children. The caller said the boyfriend “refused to put the gun down” in an assertion of his Second Amendment liberty to bear a firearm. Officers responded and spoke with the boyfriend, who said the argument was over “a dog they are taking care of.” The boyfriend said the dog “has bitten him twice and was being aggressive outwards him.” The boyfriend said “he took out a handgun to protect himself from the dog if it were to attack him.” The boyfriend “agreed to go sleep elsewhere for the evening.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
