October 9, 2018

  • A caller “reported two girls fighting in front of her house.” The caller said “one was trying to grab something from the other one, and they started kicking each other.” The caller said “she went outside and asked them to stop, and they started yelling at her.” An officer responded but did not find the fighting girls.
  • A caller said her dog was lost.
  • A caller said someone “has locked her out of her garage and won’t give her her car.” An officer responded.
  • Milford Tarter of 641 Willism St., Perry, was arrested on a Polk County warrant for second-degree theft and probation violation.
  • A caller said a tenant “left her an intimidating voicemail.” An officer responded and “listened to the message. No threats were made.” The officer advised the caller to call the police department if the tenant “walked into her office and makes her uneasy.”
  • A caller said he found two pocketknives and a set of keys. An officer responded and took possession of the items.

October 10, 2018

  • A caller said his wife was “having suicidal thoughts.” Officers responded and the Dallas County EMS was paged.
  • A caller from the Tyson Fresh Meats plant near Perry said “he just had an elderly” woman in a vehicle say “she was told by a friend she could stay there for the night.” The caller said he told the motorist “that it was a meat packing plant and she could not stay there.” An officer responded but did not find the woman seeking shelter.
  • A caller reported a vehicle traveling eastward in the westbound lanes on Iowa Highway 141. An officer responded, located the vehicle and made a traffic stop at Iowa Highway 141 and U.S. Highway 169. The driver was “a disoriented elderly female.” The Dallas County EMS and the Dallas County Sheriff’s office were paged.
  • Autumn Dolph of 1011 Evelyn St., Perry, was issued a citation for failure to have proof of insurance.
  • A caller said she received a scam phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A 911 caller said “a man had mistakenly called her while trying to call his wife and said his nose was bleeding.” The caller said “the man seemed disoriented.” A Perry Police Department Dispatcher made contact with the man, who lived in Bondurant, and with his son, who said he would check on his father’s welfare.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a dog she caught running at large. Shortly afterward, a caller reported a lost dog matching the description of the dog caught running at large. The owner “came to the police department and picked up the dog.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but could not catch the dog. Another caller reported a lost dog matching the description of the dog caught running at large. The caller said her husband “suffers from dementia” and that “he lets the dog out then doesn’t remember they have a dog.” The caller “said she would respond to the area and look for the dog.”
  • A caller said “he and his friend just observed” some “kids smoking marijuana.” An officer responded but found no evidence of marijuana.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “said he believes his daughter may have stolen checks from his checkbook and written fraudulent checks.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “he received a call from someone who said they were with the IRS.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said someone was “continually calling and texting him.” An officer responded.

October 11, 2018

  • A caller reported “a person walking on the road headed toward town.” The caller “was worried because he was hard to see from the road.” Officers responded and made contact with the walker, who “was on his way to work at Tyson.”
  • A caller said his phone was lost.
  • A caller said her dog was lost.
  • A caller said “scam callers claimed they were from the IRS and wanted information.” The caller was advised to block the number.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. “with a driver’s license she had found at an unknown carwash.” An officer responded, and the item “was logged into evidence.”
  • A 15-year-old girl from Perry was issued a citation for first-offense using a tobacco/vapor product.

  • A caller said she wanted “to know her options to obtain a no-contact order against her ex-husband, who won’t leave her alone.” An officer responded, and the caller was given contact information for Crisis Intervention and Advocacy and told “that they would help to walk her through the process.”
  • A caller reported “a couple of basement windows broken” in a vacant house. An officer responded.
  • A caller said he parked a vehicle “about a month ago” and “just returned and found the vehicle had been vandalized.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a raccoon sitting in the middle of the street.” Officers responded, “captured the raccoon and determined it was not sick.” The animal “was released out of city limits.”

October 12, 2018

  • Cristian Banuelos, 20, 525 Fifth St., Perry, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a prescription drug and first-offense possession of marijuana.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
