October 16, 2018

  • A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A social worker “called and requested a welfare check” on someone “acting irate and irrational.” The caller did “not believe he is suicidal” but “may be drinking again.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “her daughter being harassed by Perry students.” An officer responded and made contact with several of “the accused harassers,” who “claimed to have no issue with the caller’s daughter.”
  • A caller said “the truck scale at Tyson’s wasn’t operating properly.” The caller “said he wanted the number for the company that owns it. A number was provided” to the “weigh station owned by Farm Bureau.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said someone “used her credit card without permission.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “it sounds like her neighbor is assaulting his girlfriend.” Officers responded and learned it was a verbal argument over someone’s “burning supper.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “another vehicle struck her vehicle and left the scene.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said someone at a local gas station “had been drinking and making suicidal comments, saying he was going to slit his wrists.” An officer responded, and the “intoxicated” person said “he had no intentions of harming himself.” Later a caller said someone “had a knife to his throat” and “was acting irrationally and needed to be transported to a hospital.” Officers responded and transported the person to the Dallas County Hospital, where a doctor determined “it was not a committal situation. They called the VA to see if he could be admitted, and they denied the request.”

October 17, 2018

  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and requested to speak with an officer “regarding trespassing issues.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a dead deer outside of Perry” on County Road P58. The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A caller from a West Des Moines medical clinic said someone in Perry “is schizophrenic and having suicidal thoughts.” The caller said “she has not been on her medication for a while” and “has two children with her as well.” Officers responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
